May at Genome was all about helping businesses move money smarter, faster, and with more control. We covered how to optimize international SWIFT transfers, choose between batch transfers and API payouts, and improve e-commerce cash flow.
Moreover, we had some important feature updates that give clients even broader access to easy-to-manage digital financial services! Read on to learn more.
Virtual card PINs: withdraw cash using a virtual card
This month, we introduced a practical update for Genome virtual cards: virtual card PINs. Now, personal and business wallet users can set a PIN for their virtual cards and use them for ATM withdrawals via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Garmin Pay at supported contactless ATMs.
It makes virtual cards even more flexible! They are already useful for online payments and contactless purchases, but now they can also help you access cash when needed. If you do not have your physical card with you, your virtual card can work as a convenient backup.
For business users, it can also support travel-related expenses. Employees can use corporate virtual cards for contactless payments and ATM withdrawals during business trips! Don’t forget to set a PIN first to start using cash withdrawals.
UAE business onboarding and SWIFT transfers
Another important update this month was the expansion of Genome’s business onboarding. The United Arab Emirates is now approved for onboarding business clients under a high-risk classification and pricing model.
Eligible UAE-registered companies can apply for a Genome business account and use a range of financial services, including international SWIFT transfers. It is useful for businesses that operate across borders, work with international partners, or need reliable access to European payment infrastructure.
Moreover, the UAE is now supported as a SWIFT payment destination, allowing eligible Genome business clients registered in supported countries to send and receive SWIFT transfers to and from the UAE.

Batch transfers vs. API payouts: which one should your business use?
As businesses grow, paying people one by one quickly becomes inefficient. That is why we compared two mass payment solutions: batch transfers and API payouts.
Batch transfers are a great option for scheduled payments. Meanwhile, API payouts are better for businesses that need automation. Both have their benefits, and the option you need will often depend on the type of payments you perform on a daily basis.
Inside Genome, businesses can use both batch transfers and API payments. Batch transfers make it easy to start with file-based payments, while the mass payout API supports automated payment flows when the business is ready to scale further.
Optimizing B2B SWIFT transfers for international business
International business transfers can become complicated fast, as they combine a lot of factors that can influence their speed and cost: currencies, countries, intermediary banks, payment methods, etc. That is why we recently explained how businesses can optimize B2B SWIFT transfers.
In the article, we examined why SWIFT remains important for high-value international payments, especially outside the SEPA zone. We also explained how different tools can help you navigate such payments.
For instance, Genome’s Intelligent Routing System reviews payment details and helps select the most efficient available rail for the transfer – be it SWIFT, SEPA, or another transfer option. Combined with multi-currency accounts, it can help companies reduce unnecessary conversions, manage international supplier payments, and keep cross-border operations more organized.
Instant merchant settlements for e-commerce growth
Cash flow is one of the biggest factors in e-commerce growth, and instant merchant settlements can significantly improve it!
For one, we explained how traditional card settlement can take time, while Open Banking and account-to-account payments can make funds available much faster.
With Genome’s instant bank payments solution, customers can pay through Pay by Bank, while SEPA Instant Transfers process eligible payments within seconds. Merchants can access revenue faster and use it for inventory orders, supplier payments, or advertising spend.

High-risk merchant accounts explained for 2026
Being classified as high-risk does not automatically mean a business is doing something wrong. It usually means that the provider needs to look more carefully at the company’s industry, chargeback exposure, transaction volume, geography, fraud risks, and compliance requirements.
Our article covers how high-risk merchant account setup works, why underwriting can take longer, and what documents businesses may need to provide.
Our team also explained which merchant services are available inside Genome, with more features to come!
Did you miss Genome’s previous month in review? Don’t forget to check the April updates! We covered Open Banking and SEPA payments at checkout, SEPA vs. SEPA Instant for merchants, 3D Secure and SCA, failed card payments, and the new payment request feature.
